When I was young I used to collect those little decorative spoons when I traveled; I always thought that some day I would display them, and that somehow people would know how interesting I am by all of the places I had been. I learned, though, that collecting people was a much more interesting endeavor, and that if I am at all interesting, beautiful, kind, smart, etc., it is because of the fingerprints you left behind on my soul. I've thought a lot about how I could display these fingerprints and I decided the best way would be to enumerate each of you and that special something you left with me.
So often I hear women putting down other women; pointing out their faults and generally being negative. I keep wishing there was a way for many people to see what I have experienced with the women that I have had the opportunity to cross paths with. These women are kind, focused, generous, determined, loyal, beautiful, smart, sincere, and loving!
This idea came to me when I saw an interview of the comedian Sarah Silverman on The Conversation with Amanda De Cadenet. (Sarah Silverman's interview starts at 19:43.)
She talks about society creating detrimental competition; illuminating the fallacy so many of us woman have, that, "one woman's success can only come at another woman's failure." She went on to say...the biggest thing we could realize is that this is NOT true, and there is "not just one slot open for a woman at any given time," and that we need to uplift each other. When I saw this I wanted to yell..."YES!"
I would love for you and your family and friends to join me on my journey for the next year to celebrate these 52+ women's lives. My goal is to display my collection of fingerprints and hopefully in the process ennoble, not only the dear souls that have helped shaped my soul, but the women in their lives, and so on.... through your comments and experiences.
Sincerely,
Rochelle Foster
p.s. I also would like to share photos. Please let me know if this would be o.k. with you and if there is a particular photo you rather me share. Also, here is a button you can share on your social medium of choice.

Thanks Morgan...I am excited and nervous, but I appreciate the support.
Wow! Great uplifting idea! This will be wonderful and I am sure you will do a fabulous job!
I love that photo of you. :) Let the finger prints begin!
I love you for this reason. I think that there is a reason for meeting every person in your life. You are such a mentor in my life I knew it from the minute I met you how powerful you are! Xo
I love you Rochelle. You are such an amazing women and mentor in my life. Can't wait to read more. This is such a great idea!
This is fabulous! This whole idea, I love it. I found your blog through your cousin Julie. She posted about it on facebook (we grew up together, I was in the same grade as Eric) and I knew I had to check it out. Being a blogger myself I see so much negativity and mean spirited-ness among women and also some really amazing, wonderful friendships being built. I wish that more of the latter would happen, rather than there being so much competition. A blog like yours is just what the blogging community needs though. A place where we are reminded to lift one another up, be kind and remember the amazing things we take away from each person that we interact with.
I can't wait to read more and would love to share about your blog on mine, if you'd like! xo
Alyson, thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Being a blogger, I'm sure you know how insecurity can get the best of you, but I'm really passionate about this project and would love for you to share it on your blog. I have never blogged before and I appreciate all of the help I can get.
What a beautiful and eloquent idea. Especially with your idea to paint eloquenc and live with words.
Thanks Katie!
